Gastric balloon surgery is said to be non-invasive procedure. The weight lost post-surgery is not permanent and short termed depending on the diet and health regime followed.

The size of the stomach is largely reduced by surgically inserting a balloon filled with either liquid or air. This results in reducing the capacity of the stomach aiding in loss of weight. Procedure

Gastric Balloon is performed under general anaesthesia. The endoscopic procedure requires that the surgeon insert a balloon filled with air or liquid in the stomach. This results in occupying space in the stomach, thus resulting in lesser intake of food and weight loss.

The entire procedure is completed in a day’s time and you would be kept under observation to ensure perfect recovery.


Recovery

As the procedure is reversible and minimally invasive, the recovery time is also comparatively less. You are to expect slight uneasiness for a couple of days. After about 2 weeks daily routine and activities can be resumed. The surgeon along with the Dietician will recommend a regime and diet that needs to be strictly followed.

On an average, you could expect at least 50% weight loss in a year’s duration. However, individual results may wary.
